Evan's Kindergarten picture

Here is Evan's official kindergarten picture. As Ethan is homeschooled, I don't have an official picture for him. I think I might need to take him in for a professional shot!

Ethan lost his first tooth!!

My baby (okay, he's almost SEVEN!) lost his first tooth yesterday!!! I have to admit that I shed a tear or two when it happened, though not in front of him. It seems like only yesterday that he was four months old I stuck my finger in his mouth and felt a tiny little tooth starting to poke through. The lifecycle of that tooth seems so short! I remember mourning that day as well... knowing I'd never see that gummy little smile anymore. Somehow, when they get the first tooth, it really changes them. They are a little less infant and a little more baby. And now here he is, losing that first tooth and my heart aches just a bit because I understand that once again, he has changed... he's hit another milestone... a little less "little boy" and a little more "big boy". Sniff, sniff.

The Tooth Fairy paid our home a visit last night. Ethan was so excited to put his tooth under his pillow. When he woke up the next morning, he came RUSHING into my room and roused me into a groggy state to exclaim excitedly, "THE TOOTH FAIRY CAME! SHE CAME! SHE CAME! AND SHE LEFT ME A DOLLAR!!" It was priceless! He has another tooth loose and is waiting for that one to fall out next. He won't really have a gap there though, because he already has two permanent teeth shoving their way in!

Sunflowers!

In a previous entry way back in May, titled "Seedlings", I talked about how we planted sunflower seeds. I had never planted from seeds before and was afraid they wouldn't "take". I was so excited to see the little seedlings sprout out of the ground! Well, unfortunately, I didn't take more photographs during the growth. Mike did take the camera out and shot these pictures. Needless to say, they GREW... and GREW!! We had a LOT of fun looking out the window each day and seeing these flowers bloom and add SO much vibrance and beauty to our backyard. They ended up reaching the eaves of the roof! They were so tall that we could see them over the fence whenever we would drive up the culdesac! It was so fun to come around the corner and see the brilliant yellow hues over the top of the fence. Unfortunately, I didn't stake them and most of them eventually fell over. Next year, I'll be sure and stake them well. The birds had a heyday with the seeds!

Evan starts kindergarten!

My baby started kindergarten today! So hard to believe. I honestly feel like it was just a couple of years ago that he was born. Five doesn't seem possible. He was so proud of himself. He wore his Transformers shirt and was equipped with his Iron Man backpack. He is in a half day program and is attending in the afternoon. His teacher's name is Miss Grandprey and we like her a lot!
